Hi Yearners! April is about to be unhinged. What with an eclipse and Mercury in retrograde, the girlies will be (and are, from personal experience, already) acting up. Luckily, we have a brand new rundown of queer media for you to take comfort in this month.
As a reminder, if you are a free subscriber, you will only see a preview of this month’s WWTYW. Paid subscribers have access to the full fantasy—including the ability to vote on what we write about <3
New in April
Ripley (April 4)
What is it about? A wealthy man hires down-on-his-luck grifter Tom Ripley (Andrew Scott) to travel to Italy to urge his vagabond son to return home; Tom's acceptance of the job is the first step in a life of deceit, fraud and murder.
Gay, in what way? We just have to hope that the gay subtext in the original novel (1955) and feature (1999) becomes text in this 2024 adaptation. And according to reports, it does.
Where to watch? Stream on Netflix.
Mary & George (April 5)
What is it about? The story of the Countess of Buckingham, who molded her son to seduce King James I and become his all-powerful lover through intrigue, making her family richer, more titled, and more influential than England had ever seen.
Gay, in what way? Julianne Moore plays a mother who uses her gay son to social climb? What’s not gay about that??
Where to watch? Stream on Starz.
